The Highlanders, who finished the regular season with a 7-3 mark, including a 6-1 league slate, will now get ready for Friday night's Region II-5A Division I bi-district playoff game vs. A&M Consolidatd at 7:30 p.m. at Bowers Stadium on the campus of Sam Houston State University.
The Highlanders set the tone early, with quarterback Brett Parsons throwing a 64-yard scoring strike to Kyle Drabek on the first play from scrimmage.
From there, the Highlanders cruised to a 35-0 halftime lead on a TD catch and a 50-yard punt return for a score by Taylor Grote, a 67-yard jaunt by Ryan Montague and a short run by Chris Burns. Derek Wyatt (12 yards) and Kyle Hanson (80 yards) caught TD passes from Dillon Pound and Burns and Aaron Gray added two more rushing TDs in the win.
Oak Ridge's Stephen Byrne had the War Eagle highlight, grabbing an 80-yard TD catch and run from Alex Reed to close out the scoring.
